I have an Olympus 2100UZ camera which I still love dearly. :-)Does this camera ONLY take Smart Media? Will it take secure digital? I am getting a laptop tha reads secure digital.

Is there any other card that it will use?

Thanks!

Also is there any chance of Smart Media going away anytime soon, and does anyone know of a small card reader that can be plugged into a laptop?

The C-2100 uses Smart Media only. I have never heard of any adapters available that will allow the use of any other cards.
It is, however, an almost legendary camera and still very much in demand.
Enjoy Yours,
NB

I havedifferent small card readers that I use. But,I just recently bought a "Stratitec" brand multicard reader from Sam's club. It reads 9 different cards from CF to SmartMedia and xD. Not only is it compact and easy to carry with my laptop, but it only costs $19.99. Now I don't have to carry a separate card reader for Smartmedia, and a different one for Compact Flash & xD.

Also, you can sometimes find a PC card adapter for SmartMedia cards directly from Olympus on their E-bay auction site. (Ignore the 8mb limit - it reads all sizes.)

I have a PNY for SM only, ? quality but always worked.
Also got a USB2 reader for SM and xD, it was free AR at Office Max. Never saw it that cheap again. It's by digital concepts- model CR-45.
