Default Advice Needed please

Hi All
I am trying to make up my mind which camera to buy. It is between these two:

FUJI FINEPIX S602Z

OLYMPUS C-5050

I have read many reviews etc and i stumped as to which one to buy.

Your advice would be great. I want the camera to produce excellent photos at say 6x4 & 8x10 prints.

Do i really need 5 mp?

Can the sounds be turned off on the OLympus?

I love both camera. I have used the Fuji Finepix 6900 and that was a superb camera.

Thanks, and a happy new year to you all.

chimp,
a 2.1 mega will do you up to 8x10.
If most of your shooting indoors, low light the 5050 with its f1.8 lens.
If most shooting going to be "great outdoors" then look at cams with 6-10X Optical zoom.

I'd go for the 602 if only for the 6x zoom. Two of my friend's have this camera and I think it's great.

Here's an informative review of the Olympus.

Do you need 5mp? What types of shots will you shoot? What size of prints do you want? Yes the sound can be turned off.

Hi Gibson
I will be shooting different types of photos, portrait, landscape, macro, inside, outside, day, night etc etc.
I would like to be able to produce very good quality prints on 6x4 and 8x10 size paper.

I have read many reviews of both cameras and there are always plus points and minus points to every camera out there.

These are the 2 that i have narrowed it down to. I just need some input as to how people have found them.

Is 3.1 mp good for making photos at the printable sizes mentioned above?

Any help would be greatly received.

3.1 is overkill for 8x10. My 3040 which has the same lens as the 5050 captures great images in all conditions. But my 2100UZ is weapon of choice as the 10X optical make it just fun to use. The fuji 602 is a true 3.3 megapixal which is more than you need for 8x10's. Remember increasingg the megapixel is just a size thing, nothing more. quality of images is determined by lens quality and electronics. and user.
Good luck on your purchase,
Gary

3mp and above will create excellent photos for 8X10 printing. I would advise you to look at the Olympus C4040. It is 4mp with same optics as the C5050. The price on the web is at about $500.

Hi Chimp,
I am new member as well. I agreed with most comments from other members except that I went with the c5050 due to the compatibility with my existing PC on top of the outstanding features of this camera.

Hope my opinion will help,

Harry
