After working well for almost 20,000 images my e-10 suddenly blanked out in the middle of a shooting session. It will function in all areas except that I can not look through the view finder (it is blacked out) and while the lcd works and shows information it provides only a black screen image. It will even autofocus and record the black image. I have tried the usual helps - new card, batteries, rest period, reseting all specs to factory default, etc. Nothing has helped. I really like this camera and would like to hear if anyone can suggest a help. If this were a film slr I would think that the mirror had become stuck. Thank you.

I had almost an identical occurrence with my e10 awhile back, but it happened a few months after I'd dropped the camera in to a rocky gorge (there's a sound I'll never forget, lol).

Other than some scuffs and scrapes, and a shattered flash housing, the camera worked fine for a few months, then seemed to die (much the same as yours sounds like).

I ended up taking it to a Olympus repair depot in Toronto and they had to completely rebuild it (brought it back to factory spec). Luckily my insurance covered all but $100 deductible of the $1100 repair bill.

According to the repair guy, the sensor array was out of alignment. I'm not a technical kinda' person, so I just nodded, paid the bill and went home happy.

You might want to have it looked at by an authorized Olympus repair shop if one's available in your area. Doesn't sound like a quick-fix, unfortunately.

S.K.
