Default I can't believe I just bought a C-2100 !

Brand new not refurb, on eBay Buy-It-Now, price $600! Now I gotta sell some of my other stuff to make ends meet for this one. I need someone to make me feel better for throwing down $600 on a camera that was $400 a year ago. :?

-Full, 1 year warranty by Olympus
-38-380 optical zoom
-Easy to use by amateur and professional
-Electronic View Finder
-Focus assist light that really works!
-All the extras others may leave out:
  • rechargeable batteries
    charger
    really NICE RM-1 remote!
A/V cable for playing pics on TV

And, as Phil mentioned: IMAGE STABILIZATION!

One big advantage to buying a new, fully waranted Olympus camera is that it qualifies for the Olympus extended warrantee. I think the C-2100uz extended warantee is about $80.

You can buy the warantee up to one year after you buy your camera and it iincludes one free cleaning/adjustment. If I got it right, they will also upgrade the firmware for free when they perform the cleaning.

This warantee is great because Olympus will repair the camera rather than trying to replace it. And since the 2100uz is obsolete with no real replacement, it seems that most owners would rather have one repaired.

Unfortunately, Olympus does not offer their extended warantee on factory refurbished cameras.

Question related to previous post....

IS there a firmware upgrade for a 2100UZ??? If so, what does it do and how do I get it done (in Australia)???

Olympus denies knowledge of firmeware upgrades when you ask them. The only way to get it done is send your camera in for some other repair and they will upgrade the firmware as part of the process. They will not just upgrade the firmware if you ask them...their attitude is if you're not having an actual problem with the camera, then you don't need a firmware upgrade, even if it will improve the camera.

And no, you can't download a firmware upgrade and do it yourself...Olympus doesn't allow its customers to do the upgrade themselves (they think their customers are too stupid to do it).
