Default C-2100 vs C-730

Hi,
I'm a newbie looking for my first digi camera and would like to ask those of you that have use both the C-2100 and the C-730 which would you keep if you could only have one??? I realize the C=2100 has the stabilized lens and is a larger camera.

Thanks in advance,
Bob (DesertRat)

P.S. I'm sorry if this turns out to be a double post, I tried and it didn't show up. I think I forgot to fill in the subject line.

Default C-730/C-2100

Hi Bob,
Even though I loved my 730, after having my UZI for a couple days now, there is no question! It will take an awfully good camera to replace the C-2100!!
I hope you find one! Good luck!

I would buy a c2100 over the c730. IS is the main reason why.

I was hoping that I would get a few replies like this.
I will feel better after I see what arrives, it is supposed to be refurbished and like new. I enjoy reading all of the post and will call out for help very soon.

Thanks for the reply,

Bob (DesertRat)

Let's face it, the MAIN draw of buying an Olympus ultrazoom camera is the massive zoom factor... from everything I've read, 2100's image stabilization makes it so much more usable at 10x zoom than either 720 or 730. I would willingly forego the extra megapixel of the 730 for image stabilization.

Default c-2100

I had a c-2100 until just recently. I wiped out on the ice and when I fell my camera got smashed. It didn't look too bad but the camera would not fire up. I didn't think that with the newer ccd technology it would be worth the $$ even atempting to fix it. I spent about 2 weeks on my butt with a screwed up ankle so I used the time to read every review on the net. I finally bought a dimage 7i but returned it after a week and bought an oly5050. Wasn't worth the extra zoom to have the dimage. I didn't like the feel of the 730. i think the 5050 is built like a tank.(important to me now) Anyway, once you have a c-2100 you will always want that huge lens with image stabilzation. There is nothing like it.

RW...

Sorry to hear about your fall...hope you are feeling better.

Here is something you should know about your OLY C2100.

It would "only" cost you $294 (min) to about $443 (max) to
have it repaired.

Check it out on the Olympus web site.

Two cents...

If you do not want to repair it, I will buy it
