Default Fried Green Tomatoes (aka D40)

I have a D510 and the ac adapter is set at 6.5v for it. I just bought a D40, which uses a 3 v. adapter. I have been flipping between the two voltage settings on the Radio Shack adapter, and have made the inevitable mistake of plugging in the adapter to the D40 and turning it on while set at 6.5 v. The lens wouldn't extend and the top menu showed a flashing "999". I immediately disconnected the adapter. It seems to work fine. Does anyone know if this might have damaged the camera in any way? Thanks.

If the camera still works ok I expect it is voltage protected. If anything was going to pop I suspect it would have already.
