Default C-4000 Sunset Settings

Can some experienced C-4000 users please offer some advise as to the best settings to use for taking pictures of sunsets with this camera?

Thanks Ted.

Ted--

Please check out the following sunset pictures and let me know what you think of it. They're taken with my C-4000Z.

If you like any of them, I will let you know what settings I used.

Thanks,

Hyun.

Hi Hyun,

These are all very nice. I see your settings in the EXIF data. It would seem that you stick to program mode. One thing I don't understand is the "This was the same lake and same time as the one in previous sunset pictures. It was actually pretty light."

Are you using a filter for your sunset photos?

Hi Ted,

Yes, you are right, all of those were taken in Program (Auto) mode.

What I meant by the "same lake/same time" comment was that the camera's auto exposure control exposed the sunset shots and the lake shot accordingly. When I pointed the camera towards the setting sun, the camera exposed the shot in such way that the clouds and the rays of light were visible, but the lake and the landscape around the lake were rather darkened. When I pointed the camera at the lake (with no sky in the picture), then it exposed it accordingly. If I had locked the exposure on the lake shot and then tried to take the sunset shot, then everything would pretty much have come out blindingly white.

The Program Auto mode seems to be pretty smart... Have you tried taking some sunset shots already?

Hi Hyun,

No I have not taken any sunset shots yet but I am impressed with the ones you have taken in program mode. I was expecting that I would have to adjust the White Balance.
