I hope there is no problem. I was hoping to buy an Olympus original but at $180 Aus. could not justify the expense. An "Inca" at $50 was much more suited to my budget. I have not received it yet (on back order) but hopes it works well.

Thank you all for your responses. The Olympus warranty warns of "fire or personal injury". Also, I bought two from an Ebay seller @$5.25 + shppng!! Here is the link

and another informative test:

In this, not only is the power compared, but also the batteries are actually taken apart to compare the construction quality.

After reading I was convinced that the offbrand BLM-1's were just as good as the official expensive ones, and cost $10-$12 on eBay. While browsing, I found the official Olympus BLM-1 for only $20 and bought that instead.

If you search his store, he always seems to have some in stock. The one he sent me is indeed the official one, complete with original box and papers.

No they aren't...check out this page which describes the guts of the clone BLM-1 batteries:

http://t5r.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/e1/clonetests.htm

BTW, regarding the subject BLM-1 is a proprietary battery no matter whether it's an original brand, or a clone brand because it's limited to a few Olympus brand cameras. A non-proprietary battery would be something like a AA battery which can used in almost everything.

The page you linked is the same one that's given directly above my post... Of the batteries they tested, about half seem to have done better than the Olympus ones and about half worse. From other users' experiences that I have read, most are generally at least equal.

However, I still prefer paying $20 on ebay for a known brand with known quality.
