Default How do I figure out this EXIF stuff?

I've noticed a lot of pictures on pbase have the EXIF information. Is this feature on my Oly C-3000 and how do I use it?
Thanks.
®mae.

All recent cameras embed EXIF info into their JPG images. I'm very sure that your 3000 does as well. You need an image viewer that is capable of reading and displaying EXIF data. Here's one:

EXIF Image Viewer (freeware)

Good luck!

Yeah, I just figured this stuff yesterday. I didn't know it was there. Now, at least I have a backup in case I forget how I took the shot. I wish it was more informative and legible though.

If I open the pictures in Photoshop where do I go to find the EXIF info?
Thanks!

I use PS6 at work and it does not support EXIF data... as far as I know. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

My guess is that digital camera users are not Photoshop's target demographics--after all how many people shell out $600+ for an image editor to go with their $300-500 digital camera.

In Photoshop 7, when you open the file browser and click on the image the 3rd lower left window let you scroll all the exif info of the selected image!

Older programs don't know about the existance of Exif, so when you edit and save that information is lost.

There's a free (postcardware) program called Exifer where you can restore the lost data and even update the image size if you crop, http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/

Default Oops, I was wrong...

Just for the record, I was wrong about Photoshop 6 not being able to resave EXIF data when saving files. It can.

The free Irfanview, available at http://www.irfanview.com, makes reading the Exif very easy. All you do is view an image, press I for information, then press E for the complete Exif information. Pressing enter takes one back to the image. My two cents. <g>
