So after buying a 1GB card and finding I couldn't get it to work, I look in my owners manual and it says "Compatible cards: xD-Picture Card (16 – 256MB)".

Is that because 256 was the biggest card they made at the time and I just happened to get a defective one, or is 256MB really the limit? Any way around it if it is?

:?

I think it's real simple - with xD cards, either the camera is designed to address a certain amount of memory or it's not. Why would you not believe their compatibility charts? Some cameras can use later/larger cards with flash update - I don't think the 750 is one of those. To be sure, check the compatibility charts on Oly's web site - they should have the latest info. with any and all caveats for a given camera, and will supercede the manual that came with the camera.

It was a matter of questioning the (three year old) manual. I've since found a compatability charty on the Oly web site and it does show it accepts up to 512MB cards.

Anyone interested in a 1GB type M card?
