Default Anyone take pictures of fish tanks?

I am in the market for a new digital camera. I have decided to purchase an Olympus. The problem that I'm having is deciding which model. My main interest as stated in the subject is taking pictures of my fish. I have African cichlids that are very fast moving. I am looking at the C-720 and C-730 because of the 8X and 10X optical zoom. Do I really need this much? I am also interested in the C-4000.

Besides pictures of my fish, I also enjoy taking pictures of my children, wildlife, and nature. Can anyone recommend the perfect digital camera model for me? Any other advice would be wonderful.

Thanks!

I have tried shooting my fish (no pun intended) and found the best way is to set the camera to macro, put the lens right up the glass where they touch, and use the flash.

If you're really serious about shooting fish, an external detachable flash on a cable is handy...put the camera up to the glass as previously mentioned, but you hold the flash up over the tank so it fires downward. This isn't a cheap option though.

Olympus is introducing two new cameras in May and June. They will be 3mp and 4mp with 10X zoom. I have not found any detailed write ups but more information should becoming.

A big zoom is fantastic for phographing kids. You can stay well back and they're not concious of you - natural.
