Hello, I am trying to photograph some old photographs that my mother has and am curious as to what settings You have had success with. The photo's are glued in an old album so they cannot be removed to be scanned. On one of the settings I used with the macro activated, All of the phot's came out with a slightly oblong shape-fatter in the middle than the top or bottom. I'm using a tripod and shooting as straight down at them as I can. Other settings do not focus as well. I was also using the document setting but was not happy with those results. Any help would be appreciated. Any advice about the camera being junk as I have seen a few others post here, well, please save it for somebody else. I have what I have and I'm stuck with it. So please helpful information only. Thanks!

Dan-

The distortion is due to the Stylus 800 being in the full wide angle position. Try to zoom a bit away from the full wide angle position and then using the macro feature and +0.7 exposure compensation re-take the photos.

I believe that you will see a substantial improvement.
