I purchased the FL-36 to use with my C-7070. While the direct flash worked as it should (except for the focus assist illumination, which I knew wouldn't work), the bounce mode did not. With white ceilings, 8 to 10 feet high, my pictures were underexposed to the point of being black, regardless of whether I was using program, aperture preferred, shutter preferred (with its slow flash), or manual, when the internal camera flash was turned off. I've discovered other C-7070 owners have experienced the same problem.

Are there any C-7070 users with an FL-40 who can say whether that flash will work in the bounce mode when the camera's internal flash is disabled?

Lilje-

The Olympus FL-40 flash is a good flash, I use it all the time with my E-1. I will fire up my C-5060 which is very similiar to the C-7070, and see what kind of result I get.

I should receive a used FL-40 this week, but I'd like to know your results with the 5060.

Thanks.

Re: FL:36 and C7070

Try switching on the zoom mode on the FL-36/ C7070. Without the zoom, flash throttles down way too much.
