I have just got a new Olympus mini mju for Christmas and it is showing a small black rectangle at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Is it supposed to do this?
I didn't notice it at first so I am not sure if it is a fault or if I have somehow changed a screen setting. It only shows on the still "viewfinder" screen, not on the video screen or when viewing photograps.

Help please!

Hi double de-clutch!
I got one for Xmas and noticed this at EXACTLY the same time as you!!
Spooky!
DON'T PANIC..............the rectangle is a 'memory meter'.......think of it a bit like the cpu usage graph in your PCs task manager.
As you wait for the camera to store each picture you will see a brief flash of green in the bottom of the square to show how much processing power is being used .

Don't ask me why!:?
flo

PS..let me know if you see it....and how you get on with camera?

Hey, thanks Flo!
That was quick
(and smart of you to interpret my user name - most people just don't understand it!)
Yes the black rectange shows a flash of green as each photo is stored.
Actually I bought the camera as a pressie for my daughter. She didn't notice the black rectangle when she first used the camera so isn't sure if it is a fault or if she has changed a setting somehow.
She loves the camera so was a bit upset thinking it may be faulty.

I have also posted a question on the Olympus website help desk so will wait and see what they say.

Guy

Glad to help Guy!
I have always found user forums like these much more helpful than the actual manufacturers:roll:.

It would be interesting to see how Olympus describe this 'function'...and what possible use they think it could have!
