For ISO 100 and less pics, indoors w\o a flash I have been using a tripod with the timer for stills. I don't think this is the camera you want if you plan on taking mainly indoor pics without a flash. I bought it primary as a point and shoot, I can wear around my neck will fishing. hitting the beach, or boating. The LCD is adequate in bright sun, but not great.

Have you used the "P" mode, set the ISO to 100, and set the flash off. In well lit rooms, my pics have not been overerly grainy.

Im glad these pictures speak otherwise because I have read many inflammatory reviews on this camera on various consumer websites about the picture quality. I am pleased you have posted these pics and are getting great use out of this durable little camera.
