In the past week or so whenever I turn my camera on the lens extends and the lights flash and then the lense retreats and it turns off. Cannot make it stay on. It's pretty new but out of extented warranty. I'm going to take it in to check if it's the battery today....anybody ever heard of this or have it happen? I doubt that it's the battery as I put a new one in within the past 2 months.

I believe your camera uses 2 AA batteries. Are you using alkaline cells, or rechargeable NiMH cells?

The problem may be caused by the batteries. Alkalines dont last long. It's best to use freshly charged NiMH cells. Even then they may not last 2 months with some use.

Try some fresh cells, and if the problem remains it may be a camera fault.
