Over the years dust has made its way inside my C720 UZ lens, and I'm not sure what to do about it. It becomes a problem when using a flash, I guess a lot of light hits it and defracts -- bleah.

Anybody ever run into this? What did you do?

How much did it cost? ;-)

If you have guts you could try to disassemble the camera and clean the lens.

Here is a link to help you.

I'm a fairly gutsy guy, and this is pretty much what I was hoping for.

Thanks!

Did it.

Took the front lens off (pry very carefully, the retainer is plastic) with a very small screwdriver. Remove three screws. The front lens falls out.

there was a piece of dust or two on the main lens cover. I vaccuumed the thing out. Then I had to take the two elements of the front lens apart, which was slightly nerve racking -- but I ran the tiny screwdriver in the grooves between the plastic housing and the front lens itself to scrape out any adhesive, then carefully pried the front lens off. Cleaned it all out with a lens cloth, and put it back together.

It worked beautifully. It will now be a nice backup camera to my new Pentax *ist DL, which should be coming in tomorrow.
