Default Telephoto Lens for C4000

I did buy this camera last week and i love it!
Great pictures.

I been looking for a telephoto lens on ebay for the camera.

Looks like all are X2.

Anyone that have a tele lens for the C4000?
What kind do you recommend. And is it worth the money?

Also looking for a Wide Angle lens.

I have a C4040 and use the Raynox Pro 1850 (1.85 zoom). Contact the folks at www.2filters.com, they are very helpful. You will need an adapter tube for use with the C4000.

I would go for the new Olympus TCON-17 lens. It looks like the B-300, but much better. It has ED glass lens, which gives a sharper image, and with much less CA. Look at some of the post at www.dpreview.com by owners of the TCON-17. Its a great lens. Its a 1.7x like the B-300, but for the price of $99.95 at www.adorama.com, you can't beat it.

I feel sorry for those people who paid $300.00 for the B-300 at ebay. What a rip off. I'm sure you will see a big price drop on the B-300 soon if not already at ebay. Click HERE for a comparision.

I would stay away from the Titanium; all I have heard from users on this board is that they have inferior optics. As for the Optek, I don't know. I can recommend the WCON-08E as an excellent choice for wide angle (.8x) and either the B-300 or TCON 1.7 as very good (1.7x) teleconverters. All are made by Olympus and have excellent optics. For the wide angle, be aware that there is a great amount of distortion for those in the .5x range, and you would be hard pressed to find one that has no vignetting and is in reasonably sharp focus without paying a lot of money. My experience is, "you get what you pay for."

Lars,

I just recieved my new TCON-17 from adorama, and its great!! I read the manual, and it specify that it can be used with the C-4000Z.

It is even stated at the www.olympusamerica.com:

Quote:
TCON-1.7x Telephoto Conversion Lens
Extend the capabilities of your digital camera with the TCON-1.7x Telephoto Converter lens. This telephoto lens will increase the magnification of your subject by 1.7x when your camera lens is set to the telephoto position. This will help you bring in the subject when you can't get closer, for example, shooting sports or concerts. Please see below for additional items required to attach this lens to your camera.

The following models require the CLA-1 and 43-55mm Step-Up Ring:
C-2000/2020/2040/3000/3020/3030/3040/4000/4040/5050 Zoom

The following models require the CLA-4:
C-740/750 Ultra Zoom

The following models require the 49-55mm Step-Up-Ring:
C-2100UZ/E-100RS

The following models require the 43-55mm Step-Up Ring:
D-500/600/620/C-2500L

Note: Teleconverter lenses extend the camera's telephoto range. This lens is not intended for use at wide-angle zoom settings. Zooming to a wide-angle setting with this lens attached will cause vignetting (darkening) on the frame of the image.

Note: This lens is not compatible with the C-700/720/730 Ultra Zoom models due to the type of lens design used by these models.
It looks like the C-700, 720 and 730 will not work with the new TCON-17.

That's odd, because someone in the C-700 group got a TCON-17 and used it with a C-730:
