Default 4040 & CrystalVue 8X

Has anyone tried to use a 5x or 8X teleconverter with the 4040? I am looking at the CrystalVue 8x.

Have tried such a lens with the C3040 which is almost the same camera just with 1 mp less. The Eagleeye Opticzoom (5X) works fine with it. If you are thinking of getting the CrystalVue 8X32 try consider the Crystalvue LX which although a slightly more bulky lens exhibits less vignetting then the sharpshooter version and can be used on a wider variety of camera with similar results. Of course you also get 8X rather than 5X on the Eagleeye although so you will probably need a tripod!

Thanks for the reply. I wound up with the EagleEye 5X OpticZoom, which worked very well. There is a sample of one of my bear pictures from Katmai on the Photosolve website:
