The PRAKTICA DVC 5.1HD is the first HD ready camcorder from PRAKTICA. With a resolution of 1280x720 pixels at 30 frames per second the DVC 5.1 HD creates videos in an astonishing quality.
The camcorder features a 5 megapixels CMOS sensor, a rotatable 3.0" TFT monitor (940x240 pixels), a 5x optical zoom, a Li-Ion rechargeable battery and a 32MB built-in memory which can be extended with SD or SDHC cards.

Price: cca. 170 euros

Sweet

not the best one but nor the worst

I did like how softthe vid wasreminded me of the IS-DV by Aiptek

I did not like hearing the breathing by the filmer, and not even hear the scenery noise that to memeans a poor mic.

I did not like hearing noise of the zoom it waspresent

I liked how it did not lose focus or maybe in another shot.

I did not like the video it was not bright enough facing into thesun yes a dark pic ,but the sun behindstill dark not good.

a great device but too bulky forme.

Default How to encode video for Praktica DVC 5.1 HD to read.

Hi, I am new to this forum!

I have got a Praktica DVC 5.1 HD camcorder, a decent one for the price, in my opinion.

The thing is that I am trying to encode video from other sources, like HDTV BBC television programs, for instance, in order the camcorder to read, so this way I could use it as a sort of HDTV video player; since it is possible to plug it to watch the output in an HDTV monitor or television.

But the problem is that none of the material I manage to encode with ffmpeg or mencoder can be decoded by the camera. Instead, when you push playback green button and browse through the clips, the camera freezes if you select one clip externally encoded.

Any workaround? I would be glad to provide as much technical information as required, do not hesitate to answer.

Thanks in advance.

Any idea on how to encode HD 720p video in order to watch it from the Practika DVC itself?

Hi does anyone out there know where I can get a software disc for a PRAKTICA DVC 5.5 HDMI digital camcorder? I would be quite happy to pay for a copy of one, or to find out where I could get one. I especially need the drivers, but on contacting Praktica, they were not helpful at all, and on the download page, they don't cover the camcorders at all.
Any help or suggestions would be helpful.
