Thanks to someone in the rec.digital.photo group, I learned that the two cameras are the same - and also discovered the Steve's Digicams site!

The review, elsewhere on this site:

was very helpful!

What I don't understand is a company like Vivitar or Mustek that puts out a nice camera like the Vivicam 8400 or the MDC-832Z with the power adapter as an optional accessory, then DOESN'T make the POWER ADAPTER! How am I going to use the camera for movies or as a web camera on batteries only? No wonder they suggest rechargeable batteries! All the reviews online talk about how wonderful the camera is, but miss this point.

Seriously folks, if anyone knows of a power adapter that will work with this camera, please let me know.

Any 3.0 volt power adapter will work. Try Radio Shack. This camera is selling for $130 at Radio Shack right now, BTW.

Any one else know anything about this? I'd hate to blow up my new camera.
