looks like you got some more gun blasts... How do they determine who has to play dead and who gets to keep playing?
Have you checked out the canon site that Neil mentioned a page or two back? |

I checked that Canon site but could not load anything.
The reenactors come to the event one day early, Fri afternoon, they map out the battle for the next day. Also on Fri they do roll call, if the Union side has more troops than the Confederate, those extra Union will switch to the Confederate side to fill in the troop shortage and vice versa. I think you have a civil war event in Jun, try to attend, they answer all your questions, very interesting to know how muchyou don't know about the civil war. One Confederate soldier told me in the class roomstudents couldn't learn all the details because history books cover other era in one semester, that's why the reenactors get together to bring history outdoor for them to experience how the battles were fought. During the battle the speaker explains the troops movement, the trategy they are using, what group is doing what, why they move to the left or right...he also discuss mistakes each commanding officer makes.Event organizersend the flyers to local schools, the teachers let students know so they can get extra credit by going to the event. For photographers like us, it's a challenge to shoot this kind of fast moving event, you aim your camera at one group thinking they fire, but sometimes they don't, they wait for the other side to fire first, that's why you have to keep an eye on the other side, plus you have to watch for the cannons, which one is about to fire, you wish you had a dozen eyes. After all, it's the gun powder that keep you clicking, the concussion, the loud boom keeps you going eventhough you have sunburn, dehydrate under 100 degree sun, the sandstorm blow sand into your mouth. Don't worry about you get good pictures or not, you snap the pictureslike a real war correspondence, you'll understand why those poeple take dangerous assignments in trouble spots all over the world, it's the excitement they are looking for. Try it one time, the XTI will take you anywhere you want to go, near the jaw of the Union and Confederate cannons when they exchange artilleryroundsthat can break you eardrums, you can feel blood pump up to your ear in pulse after pulse.:-) |
