Okay, so don't everyone laugh at me at once, but I have a crazy theory to throw out.
When I'm attempting to take low light pictures, the autofocus has a tendancy to work the first couple times, then spaz on me, unable to focus on anything in particular. For the first mystery: why there are no stars, I'd assert this is what happened; autofocus lost it and couldn't find a focus point. For the second: what caused the streaks and how, this is the far crazier part of my theory. My guess is that light was being caught on the edge of the lens and reflected onto the lens or being caught by the lens itself (man, I sound nuts! But I'm saying it anyhow!) from a passing car or porch light. Passing car is my first choice because the streaks seem to be white, yellow, and reddish--just like car lights are. The lens, in it's desperate attempt to focus, tried to focus on this reflection. I'm thinking of this as something akin to lens flair, the light was being reflected in multiple times... if you lighten the picture up, more of the streaked line are visable to vary degrees, like the circles on lens flair. Obviously, I expect my nutty theory to be refuted, since I really don't know what I'm talking about, but perhaps it will spark some further epiphany and get us to the bottom of this interesting mystery. |

It wouldn't be anything like this would it? 'Cause I was going 60 mph. and depressed the shutter. I'm just kidding with you. I didn't know where else I was going to use this shot.

Moon Gypsy, no, mine wasn't like yours, I wasn't doing 60 mph. That's a pretty cool pic you took. I'm curious, is this your only high speed shot from that photoshoot?
Lizdesign, I won't be the one refuting your theory. It's the best one I've heard yet, and quite possibly the accurate one. Then again, maybe I'm just as nutty as you are, and I don't know what you're talking about either. ![]() |

Come on guy's. Lets look at the situation. Night sky. Mysterious objects. Sounds like something Art Bell would be interested in.

I also agree with Alan T that with the curves in the lines mirroring the others it can’t be anything but camera movement. That doesn’t mean you didn’t move the camera while catching extraterrestrials though. |
