Slight alteration of Still in Use - A tweak offered in respect for the work of calr

I think you've really added to it. The crop is a good idea and you've played with the colours well. It has a completely different feel to the original.

I agree that the crop is an improvement, however, the color and contrast changes do not look real. The lighting, color, and contrast in the original photo are fairly accurate.

If the goal is to create an art piece, you have accomplished it. If the goal is to show the actual appearance, I think I have done it!

They say "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." In this case, the desired effect is up to the nut behind the camera!

Have a good new year.

When I look at your one calr I see bright sunshine. When I look at digcamfans I see a setting sun. That's what I meant when I said ti had a different feel. It may not be the lighting conditions you had when you took it, but it looks believable to me.

:)

Hi Calr,

My tweak of your photo was not to alter but rather to celebrate.

I know you are a railroad buff so thought you might appreciate the "take".

Also, the tweak celebrated an event (weather permitting) that occurs once a year in Hanlontown, Iowa.

Every June 21st, just at sunset, the rails in town go "afire" with an incredible glow.

It only lasts but a few seconds.

Hope to be there this year (summer) to see it!

Here isa link to a photo of this event online.
