Dave, Wonderful subject but I think the background detracts from the subject - there's a bit too much going on. I know you're limited on that as it's a public place though - can't exactly set the location up! I don't know - perhaps either a night shot or less DOF?

[color=white]Suze,
Thanks for your comments. I fully agree with you that the background is a bit distracting. There was, however, no other way to get a photo of this particular sculpture which, I found rather impressive. The bird is actually taller than a human and really stood out in front of the fountain. Perhaps a longer exposure would have blurred the water from the fountain and thereby blocking out a bit more of the background? In any event, I couldn't take it from any other angle. The fountain would have obscured the bird if taken from the other side. Moreover, the sun position wouldn't have accomodated it. From either side, and the bird wouldn't have been apparent with its wings expanded. Would appreciate your opinion on a different photo with a cleaner background. http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...07&forum_id=86 |

If you can get there again, try stopping down your aperture all the way (F/11) and using the lowest ISO speed possible (100). (try aperture priority and see what your shutter speed is).

Dave, I agree with the other comments posted here. Might I suggest that you choose some other color than white for your postings. Unless I adjust my monitor, I cannot read the white text.
