Great shots squirlo33, I don't think the 30D could do much better than those shots by your FZ20.

thanks to all for the kind words.
HarjTT, that's Mount Rainier. it's anout 55 miles from where i was standing to the mountain, as the crow flies. it's considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, not because it's particularly active, but because of its proximity to densely populated areas. Golovemd asked, what's wrong with Seattle? well, aside from the fact that it's a city, and i do NOT like living in cities (i hate crowds and noise and traffic), it also has one of the more arrogant and out-of-touch city governments i've seen. voters say one thing, the mayor and city council do another, usually to the detriment of the voting public, and the voters aren't smart enough to throw the bums out. the only solution the city - or most of the rest of Washington, for that matter - can come up with to any issue is more taxes, throwing more of our money at their problems, and analyzing issues to death while cost overruns and schedule delays run up the debt... which taxpayers have to pay! Seattle has turned into Berkeley North, and it drives me nuts to see what used to be a wonderful city overrun by arrogant, socialist politicians and "progressive" special interest groups.... but enough. it's still, as these photos show, a very pictruresque city, at least from the vantage point of an outsider who doesn't dig too deeply... i'll take the shots, and because that kind of shot is popular, i'll probably sell a few, but i'll never again live in the city itself. |

![]() Great Photos, Rocky Damm, squirrl033, if I didn't know better I would think you were here in BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA. I am told by everyone, the locals, and the new media that we hold the honor of having theblue ribbontype of government you refer to. Here in cajun country we say "the money talks, and the bullsh*t walks". I believe we have some of the most corrupt politicians of anyplace. I could explain why, but here in the south is where many of your tax dollars go, to a lazy society, bred by Lyndon Johnsons's Great Society program. We now have about four to five generations of give me what you got or I won't vote for you. |

You are right, not much difference. I do think I see a little better definition in the mountain from the D30 or my old eyes are playing tricks on me. Great shots from both cameras.

Both are beautiful shots Squirll. Number 1 with the mountain in the back ground is my favorite but #2 is great to. It's nice that you can pop in and get shots like this and pop back out again.
