Been some time since I took any images, must less posted any images, but...
Had a chance to use my FZ30+RDS+TCON17 this afternoon for an hour or so shooting some Red Tail Hawks in flight over a local alfalfa field. Wound up shooting over 200+ images and thought that posting a sequence of unedited images from the many burst sequences would be a good illustration for newbies of-- 1. How a RDS sight assists in increasing %'s for having the subject within the frame of view during a burst sequence (but not always...) ;-{ 2. How even when one hears the beep indicating AF lock doesn't mean good focused images 3. A typical keeper ratio for post processing can be as low as this venture... ~ 18% or ~35 out of 207 images 4. The more experienced one becomes, the higher the threshold becomes for what is a 'minimal-keeper' for later post processing 5. Good Argument for using burst sequenced images to get one or more 'good' images out of a 5-shot sequence 6. Good illustration that full zoom isn't always a good thing... Full Zoom Ooops.. Image control: Zoom out | Zoom 100% | Zoom in | Expand / Contract | New window ![]() ![]() ![]() The following URL is for a slideshow of about 120 or so of the 207 images in the sequence they were taken and only full sized image resized to 800 x 600 for posting. These show that panning/tracking with a RDS helps but technique and experience goes a long way to a higher keeper ratio. And, yes, even those of us who have > a year experience have a lot of missed opportunities... All posted images are as out of camera w/No editing/cropping except a few at the end of the slide show of a couple of the better images with a quick PP in Picasa2. Nice captures Telecorder. Some time the auto focus will lock on the sky and focus if your subject is not centered. The RDS is nice to have but it does take some practice. I've not really had time to consentrate on it so my average is low also.

Thanks for the info and shots, the last one seemed to have better focus than the others.
