Every year at this time at the Miejer Gardens they hold a very special event called "Butterflies are blooming".
They recieve hundreds of soon-to-be butterflies still in their chrysalis, and they complete thier transformation
in display cases for public viewing. They are released into the arboretum and turn it into a fantasyland.
Here's a pic of the first few, one is about ready to take wing, others are drying their wings, while others wait to emerge.
Gotta get back when the party is at it's peak.

Nice! Going to have to do a road trip to Gainsville again. They have the largest enclosed butterfly zoo in the world. It actually looks like a rain forest inside. Tried to use my s1 coolpix I had at the time. Lets just say the pictures were very sad.

Very nice, Tinosa. Reminds me of when I use to be a beekeeper, and the queen cells would be on the combs. Wish I had some photos ofthe hives to share, but never took a camera along back then.

Do make it back there when all the different types are out if you can. I have a bunch of butterfly pictures I won't post here because they are from my Kodak, but they make great subjects, especially if the site has flowers for them to sit on.
