For my FZ20 I have the Phayee lens adapter and use a 72mm Hama rubber hood. I would wonder if a 62mm hood would vignette more at lower zooms than the wider 72mm hood. Then too, adjustmentof a 62mm polarizer with a 72mm hood attached is extremely difficult. I take the 72 hood off when using a 62mm polarizer.
Your choice 72 or 62 ??????? Stan |

the 62mm hood does vignette when fully extended at lower zoom settings (i.e. below about 4x). butthat's why it's collapsible... when you zoom back in, just collapse the hood, and presto! no vignetting!
i chose the 62mm hood because it screws right onto my adapter. it also screws right on to my polarizer, and if i want to turn the polarizer, i simply grasp the hood and turn the whole thing. works like a champ. |

Whena rubber collapsible hood is folded back it does not block the ambient glare. So if a 72mm hood can be extended when the 62mm hood would have to be collapsed because of vignetting: the 72 is better. For longer zooming the 62mm is better. Of course thebest solution is to have both.
