These were taken near my house today. First time I saw the Ant-Mimicking Jumping Spider, and some more below my house! At first I thought it was a spider with something in the mouth...but nope it was Ant-Mimicking Jumping Spider! Very hard to take this fella as it was always on the move, and only had a few moments where it stayed put. Likes to hide undeneath the leaf too!
Well, also took pics of the Heavy jumper again, a mantis and a white hopper! Taken with FZ10+Nikon 6T+Sigma CU, Ext bounce flash, ISO 50, F8.0 and various speeds #1: Ant-Mimicking Jumping Spider Really looks like a duck... ![]() #2:Ant-Mimicking Jumping Spider Another View ![]() #3: Heavy Jumper again ![]() #4: Heavy Jumper: Waiting to pounce ![]() #5: Male Banded Phintella ![]() #6: Sad Mantis Love the sad look on this fella.... ![]() #7:Mantis (another view) ![]() #8: Climbing to the top ![]() #9: White Hopper ![]() |

CY, you continue to amaze me. the clarity and detail of your shots is stunning, and you always manage to get your subjects to pose so perfectly - or at least hold still - for you! have you ever considered publishing one of those "coffee table" photo books of your work? i have no doubt it'd sell!

Tchuanye, Excellent pictures! I've never seen or heard of a "Ant-Mimicking Jumping Spider", are they only found in that part of the world? Jim
