Nice shot, but sometimes nature doesn't help.
My kids say: "that's a pretty bad looking bird, dad !!" I think it needs a bit of sharpening and the bird's color, very similar to the background color, doesn't help much, so the bird doesn't stand out like it should. |

I agree that it is a bad looking bird, but I believe all the cardinals around here are in a molting state, where they are sheding a lot of their old feathers and growing new ones. Most of them look like this right now.
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate your viewing also. |

I believe that BIRD needs a feather transplant. Give him your card and ask him to come back when he is looking good.
Nice photo - Ugly bird. |

Thanks Roger, I think that is what Mother Nature is doing. I posted a Cardinal photo about a month ago of a Male Cardinal that looked absolutely diseased. Someone stated that they read some where that they molt. I looked it up and sure enough that is what is going on. They are molting. A few are looking more normal.

Nice shot, but she won't win any beauty contest will she. I live about 150 miles east of Dallas and the cardinals are in their full glory now. Strange what a difference a few hundred miles can make.

Shame on all of you!.......There is no such thing as an ugly bird.
At least there is nothing that a good brew can't fix Fred |

I can relate to this poor critter. I have plenty of bad hair days myself. My husband probably wishes I would molt sometimes!

Thanks to all of you. Like Bootneck3, I think all birds are beautiful. I put out a lot of bird food, in winter, I have reached 50# in barely over a week. Right now, it is mostly Cardinals and Sparrows at the feeders.
LadyHawk, when I don't get a regular haircut, I too have bad hair days, and it really shows with this old grey hair. |
