That robberfly is great! We don't have them around here but they are all over at my grandmother's farm in Texas.

Thanks Vaiboy, this was the first time i`ve managed to photograph one. Just missed one the other day with a Dungfly in its grasp. Unfortunately as I was readying the camera the pair dropped into the undergrowth out of sight.

Wonderful images again, the flash seems to light them perfectly, far better than the standard flash with the camera. You dont seem to get any white out parts to them, the moth esspecially reflects light a lot and your images just seems quite natural.

How much is one of the Sunpack flashes you use? I can never find them for sale in the UK at oK prices sadly  I want one that can fire quickly, but never wanted to spend too much, guess I am cheap.

Thanks Romero. I always aim to use the flash in such a way that it isnt obvious in the shots, so the light looks as natural as possible, the flash mainly helping to overcome camera movement.
Re the flash, keep an eye out on Ebay, the flash i`m using , I won for a grand total of £9-99, complete with off-camera bracket, and extension cord, absolute bargain. It recycles quickly enough to use in burst mode too when using it at the lower power settings.I can`t praise it enough....

Sounds perfect! esspecially for that price! will go and look right now for the sunpak 36dx flash, with off-camera bracket, and extension cord :G

There was a 36dx on there when i looked the other day, with a few days to go on the auction. The price was pretty low when I looked....

Great shots Mark but I hope you stomped on the middle one after the shot.
