The first one is a fungus gnat - sciaridae.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fungus_gnat) The third is a unknown wasp. This is my way to study new lenses and light conditions. It is very relaxing to know that these critters did not move in the last million years and will not do this in the next minutes. You need many diopters in this case >= +20 diopt., no problem with the FZ5! There is no longer a gap between my microscopy-digiscoping and macro photography. ![]() Sven more amber: http://sgsg.zoto.com/user/lightbox/C...aded-asc/0-100 |

Very interesting pictures Sven, great colours on #3 and I am impressed by the detail that is preserved in the amber. The compound eyes are very well defined. Thanks for posting.
I am also impressed by your set up as shown in your album. arrow |

Hi arrow,
my setup is improved today. The objects can be turned and moved in small steps. The background can be changed and illuminated. There are three or more light sources, similar to portrait photography. This is my only chance to get rid of reflections. ![]() The sharpness of the insect eyes is not limited by the camera, only by the transparency of the amber. My new object has preserved red eyes - but the resin is not so transparent. Sven |

Sven, Your amber shots always amaze me. Seeing your ingenuity with the setup tells me why.
