I'm getting a Used Sunpack 422... Instead of the 4-AA batteries can it take a re-chargeable battery? Will there be a significant life difference if it does? Any help is appreciated.

I think so. I bought a set from battery barn when I got my backup battery for the FZ30 to make it to the minimum amount for free shipping. They were like $6 for four and work great.
