You have to remove it for regular photos. But screws on and very easily.

If you leave in macro mode the camera wants to choose the ISO (which is usually higher than I want).

Clint - I found that if you go into close-up (macro) mode using the [AF/AFflower/MF] button at the top, you stay in program mode and you can choose all the setting. On the other hand, if you go into close-up mode using the mode dial on the top, you go into full auto (iA) mode. Are we saying the same thing?
