Can you up the a-stop any? That should give you more depth-of-focus. Some parts of the butterflys are a little blurry, but overall, they're magnificant.

You are right, Bill, but those diopters are really DOF devourers.
And these are neither extreme cases (only one at full tele). However another lack of the FZ is F8 (F11 in FZ30) min aperture... IN dSLR you can use F22 or less and compensate for light with ISO 400-800 in non flash shots, which is impossible to do with FZ20 (I use it at ISO 80 to be able to use 100% crops after Noise Ninja and more PP). One should try to keep wings on the same plane, but then they'd be monotone pics... |
