I was out taking some pictures in my back yard - just as an excuse to be outside on a nice day - and this pair of cardinals was hanging around all day. Unfortunately, the reason they were hanging around is because neighbor's schnouzer (sp?) had killed one of the babies earlier that morning, so the parents were hanging around the baby, hoping it would make it. Very sad situation - my heart went out to them. I know house cats kill over a million birds a day, but I didn't think dogs would be a problem. Hopefully people will take this as a lesson to be aware of what their animals are doing when they are outside, especially now when there are so many fledglings around.

Cardinals are my most frequent visitors right now along with the red wing blackbird.
I love to see them and keep sunflower seed and mixed feed in feeders. You have two nice captures. Jerry |
