Hello,
A pair of chickadees excavated a nest in a dead branch of a maple tree not far from the house last spring. Here's a picture of the female on a nearby branch fully fluffed up after she tried to scare away a cat below. Bob Shutter priority 1/250s ISO 400 Exp bias +3 35mm equiv=905mm C&C welcome. |

Thank you jjdog2, csa, and catalex54.
This is my first upload and I knew it was on the noisey side. The light was so-so, but I tried to get as fast a shutter speed as possible because I expected flight. It turns out that the flight pictures I got were taken on a Nikon D40x at a much faster shutter speed. JJdog, I'm with you: chickadees are my favorite, too. I watched this pair for 6 weeks (they hung around for a bit). They started excavating on April 24th and fly-away day was June 7: there were 7 fledgings and I got shots of all of them as they emerged. Tried to attach one, but got the dreaded "upload error" 3 times. I'll try later, Thanks again, Bob |
