why this cake is in newspaper...:?

suze Dec 21, 2005 11:28 AM

Am curious about the newspaper as well . . . do tell John :?

The thick newspaper around the cake tin stops the tin getting too hot and burning the outside of the cake, I borrowed this idea from a very old 1920's christmas cake recipe ;)

Looks good John! I'm surprised the newspaper does ignite ! Jim

Good looking cake John. I added a picture of one of mine but it fell so flat you can't see it. If I really tried to make one I would probably set baking back 100 years.
