Can anyone help me with understanding how the Panasonic flash works with the FZ20. Does it sync with the camera and control the light allowed out, or does the camera sense the light value and control the aperature/camera speed. I was told there are a list of compatible flashes on the Panasonic site, and silly me tried to find them. Have had no luck with compatability, and would like to get a flash to add to the camera. Can any one advise on flash selection plse.

A lot of people like using the SunPack 383. I have one and it works great. Since the FZ20 hotshoe is not TTL (through the lens) capable, you have to set an external flash manually. The SunPak 383 doesn't use TTL anyway. It is much cheaper than the Panasonic flash.

Quantaray Q383 Super. I think it's the same as the Sunpack 383. Works great.

Which ever flash you choose make sure the trigger voltage is less than 24 volts. You can search this forum for external flashes for the FZ20. Check trigger voltage at this site.

This site will answer questions about how the flash works with thr FZ20.

I am using the Nikon SB-28DX on it. It only works on manual mode and can't use the TTL, but it works fine for me. I have a Nikon N80 I uses that flash with if I use film.
