Well, obviously you could use a lot :-)morepower here but still, you can actually see that it's Saturn. Shot with FZ30 and TCON17 this evening. :O

I would not have thought it would have resolved Saturn!
What were the specs? eg tripod used? exposure setting? manual focus?... |

This must be the smallest image on the forums so far :-)
As exif tells, aperture was 4.5, shutter speed 1/13. I also used a tripod (of course) and the Panasonic remote control.Exposure was manual but focus was auto. Firstchallengeis to know where Saturn is on the sky. This GREAT freeware is a solution whatever space object you're looking for, http://www.stellarium.org/ Second thing is to place that little dot in the sky into the viewfinder. It's easier to use the EVF than the LCD. When it's located, the LCD is more practical. Then I used 4x digital zoom. There's so few pixels in useanyway so it's practical for checking focus and exposure settings. Anyway, now into this, I'm seriously considering some digiscoping equipment that can be attached to the FZ30 ![]() |

Very interesting, PeHa. I have tried constellations and star clusters, but not Saturn. Unfortunately, I do not have a tele-lens yet. I tried with my FZ3 as it is, but all I could get was a blurry blob. Should get one soon and try. Thanks for re-kindling my interest in star gazing.

A lot about FZ30 and digiscoping on that thread, Gene, thanks!!
Thanks, Raghu! Yes, you'll certainly need some extra tele equipment. Hope you'll succeed! I also found the surprising possibilities here fascinating... |
