Out walking the dog yesterday with trusty Fz20 with DCR-150.

Lots of butterflies moths a grasshoppers all around in the long grass.

Tried taking some shots of them, not to easy when they're not in th emood for having there picture taken or just when you get them in shotting range the when dog comes ploughing through like a bull in a china shop.

Spent an hour trying, but only got a few decent shots. Next time I think I'll go without the dog!

Hi Stevetracey,

I've been out of the loop lately and went back to catch up on what I'd been missing. I identify with your plight of just getting the camera perfect for a shot and a beloved animal comes along demanding some kind of attention. In my case it is the resident squirrel begging for peanuts. Ha She's quite familiar with me and has on several occasions gone so far as to climb my tripod leg to get closer for begging.

I just wanted to tell you I enjoyed your hover fly and butterfly shots. I don't know how you were able to get so close. Especially to the butterfly. They are so skittish. My personal favorite would have to be the second shot of the little blue butterfly with wings open. Just beautiful to me. :-)

Good job and thanks for posting:cool:

Beautiful shots !!
I really liked all of them but specially the third one.
The fluffy plushie look of the butterfly on the third shot is fantastic.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for all your nice comments.

All the butterflies will be gone soon. So may have to wait next year now for more practice on the little buggers.

Heres the little devil that likes to ruin my chances of getting close enough to take the shots.

You should better shoot your dog in this situation (I mean take nice pictures of him!!)

I like the butterflies very much, these are the IDs:

Common BlueHauhechel-Bläuling Polyommatus icarus

Clouded Yellow Postillion (Colias croceus)

I have tried to find the clouded yellow (even without a dog), but they were too fast up to now. This is a very busy butterfly.

Good job, thanks for sharing,

Sven

Thanks Sven, for the IDs on the butterflies. Its always nice to know what your shooting.

As for shooting the dog, I thought about it but the wife won't let me!
