Will any 72mm lens filter work on the FZ20?

bobc Oct 1, 2004 7:29 PM

I got a 72mm UV filter.

I would think that any one would, but I am far from an expert.

Thanks Bobc!

Bobc, What brand filter did you use?

bobc Oct 1, 2004 10:05 PM

Quantaray UV Haze filter.

Picked it up at The Camera Shop for $24.99 and 72mm lense cover for $3.79.

Any 72mm size filter will work on the FZ10 and FZ20 as long as you use the hood attachment.

In terms of UV/Skylight filter, any brand will do. The cheaper the price the better, since it really doesn't do much other than protecting the lens from scratches and dust.

If you are looking for Macro filter, Polorize filter, or others, I would recommend a good brand like B+W or Nikon, since their material are better and provide better results. They are a bit more costly compared with Quartuary, it is a Ritz brand.

Adaptor info
============
What is an Adaptor ?
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/FORUM/F...D62-ring-s.jpg
Remove the Pana ring..
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/FORUM/F...ring-off-s.jpg
then add adaptor (Pemaraal PA62)
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/FORUM/F...-PD62-on-s.jpg

So why use a 62mm Adaptor instead of the Pana 72mm Adaptor supplied ?

Nothing stopping you using the supplied Pana 72mm adaptor + 72mm Filter
but a 72mm filter is more money.. and if you want to use any other lens at a later date most are 62mm or smaller threads this can cause vignetting (dark corners on images) and step down ring problems.. and the cost of..
so buying a 62mm adaptor + 62mm filter in the future makes sense.

PA62 is Aesthetically pleasing too :)

WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE PROTECT THAT LENS PLZ HAVE A UV FILTER IN PLACE..
