This forum, a few beers and an online camera accessory store is a dangerous combination. :roll: To cut a long story short, I've added a Hoya R72 IR filter to my camera bag after being impressed by chung's experiments with IR. Thought I'd share my first two shots.

Oh man, those are nice! I may have to think about getting one of those filters. These shots are great.

Thanks. Quite a lot of PP - channel mixer, auto levels & color, curves, saturation, contrast & brightness, crop. The shots as they came out of the camera weren't that inspiring..

Yes, I've found that to be the case. Most digital cameras have a very strong ir blocker, the fz5 being no exception. The fz1/2 had a relatively weak ir blocker and consequently does rather nicely with the r72 at shutter speeds around 1/20-1/30s which are handheld capable and keep the foliage movement to a minimum. I haven't had much success with the fz5 and r72 and pretty much gave up. Chung's exposed film method looks more promising but the shots are quite blurry, I quess do to the opacity (or lack of) of the film. Furthermore, I don't have any film to experiment with.

Neverthelss, I'm always on the lookout for ir capability and the tone mapping software currently being discussed at http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=23is intriguing.

I've heard they are comparable to the r72.
