I would like to get an external flash for use with the fz1. I would like to know what other people are using and what kind of results you are having with them. Thank you in advance.

There is no cable you can attach an external flash to. Any altenative? The built-in flash is weak.

I've got a big old Sunpak G4500, but am looking for a low cost digital camera slave trigger for use with the FZ1. You need a trigger unit which fires an external flashgun on the second flash from the FZ1. The FZ1's internal flash always flashes twice in quick succession (first time to set the auto white balance, I think). If anyone knows of a cheapish trigger, let me know.

Hi commie. On the dpreview site EJN (based in UK) recommends the Hama hot shoe slave. Shouldn't work, perhaps, because isn't designed to cope with the digital camera's pre-flash, but apparently does :

I use with my FZ1 slave flash: UNOMAT B 24 Servo. It takes working distance about 8.5m at ISO 100.

I recently purchased a Sunpak Digital Flash Kit for my FZ1. It ignores the pre-flash that a digital sends and works great with the FZ1. The last time I checked www.pricegrabber.com it was readily available for around $26.00.

I use a DigiSlave flash which you can see on this site. It mounts to a single straight bar that I already had and also doubles as a very nice hanfle. To me the little extra cost was worth it as it is a very powerful flash. I put a pad on the back of the flash for a soft head rest.
