Here's a tutorial on how to correct barrel distortion (and pin cusion) in Photoshop. http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Imag...rection_01.htm
using a free software tool, that can also stitch panoramas.
I also posted this link to this thread:http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...63&forum_id=23

There is an example of barrel distortion a few pictures down. All cameras do this to some degree (pana's not to bad, actually...). Usually invisible but shows up on architectural shots with straight verticals.

Here's the on-line user's guide. http://ptfaq.org/fom-serve/cache/1.html

The program can be downloaded from the DPreview link.

Hey Nick...is this a plugin that also works with photoshop CS. If it doesn't does CS have something to help with this? Thanks for any answers

Hey M8T, the distorted one isn't showing up on my screen. Kinda makes me wonder why the processing engine doesn't correct this itself in post. In any case, if you get a WA adapter, don't worry too much about BD. Easy fix. I'm awaiting the arrival of my Raynox DCR-6600, which has limited BD but softer edges. I wonder now if I shouldn't have gotten one with BD but sharp edges once corrected.

Personally, I would have traded a few ticks on the zoom end for a few less mm's on the wide side.

Glad you like it!

PS --------> Folks have to start realizing you can correct anything in post. The camera is just a means to capture the image, and one should look for one that can "get the shot" (hence the FZ's) in the first place, and not place so much emphasis on what the image looks like out of the camera, like reviewers like Steve and others do. Those kind of reviews are for film cameras where you're stuck with whatever comes back from the lab. It's not the case anymore. Digicam reviewers, are you listening?

Boyzo, this is a test for the barrel distortion of a camera lens if ever there was one! :G Great shot by the way, and great choice of shot to test the software.
