Hello all

I recently purchased panasonix fz20 and many times the pictures are sharp. However, sometimes I get a blurred image and I admit my hands are not that steady but that is why went for a camera with good IS. Here are my settings:

I shoot in aperture priority mode with aperture set to f2.8 and 1x zoom (wideangle side of things). Auto focus was on with 9 point mode and continuous AF was off. IS was set to mode 2. The setting was outdoor with evening sun light.

Any ideas? Could it a be a focus problem with the with the 9-point system?

I think you hit it on the head. I have never had much luck with the 9-point system. Use the one point or spot focus. With nine different points to choose from, the camera can sometimes get confused. I like the spot or area focus better.

Hi All

I have to admit that whenI have used the 9 point my success rate is lower than spot or area. The 9 point is also slower in my experience. Taking pictures of anything with no strong edges also confuses the camera, such as uniform fur, where the camera often fails to focus.

Busy learning action shots using horse jumping as subject. I found that sometimes even area focus is not 100% all the time andI need fast focus times. I have had more success with spot and increasing the F to 5.6 need better depth of field to try get most a horse in focus. I found photographing jumping horses at F2.8 often meant some of the horse was out of focus. Maybe too shallow depth of field?

I am relatively new to photography and those are just my experiences, hopefully i learn quick.
