How much does the conversion setting in the menu display affect the use of a telephoto lens, or does it matter?

I can see no difference. Except you get a warning to set the zoom as high as possible....On the FZ10 and 20 it started the zoom at 6X but it seems to do nothing on the FZ30.

Rduve...........
There is a setting in the REC menu of the FZ cameras ( last item) the setting is conversion and you have the choice of Off---tele--- or wide On the FZ 20 the tele setting started the zoom at 6X to avoid vignetting and I think the wide would only allow you to zoom to 2X but since the FZ30 has the mechanical zoom you just get a warning screen to the effect of, you are in that mode and to set the zoom to as much tele or wide as available.but I see no advantage to it at all. |

Genece, I, for one, do appreciate your responses and advice. It has really been great assistance to me, a novice. In going through the record menu, I just kept wondering exactly what the conversion setting was for, but could not find a clear answer other than to what setting to use.
Thanks again for your expertise. |
