Hello all, I am new to here. I am looking for an external flash for my new FZ-50.

I am not interested in TTL flashes due to the high price. Just auto flashes will be fine.

I saw that sunpak 383 auto would be a good choice for FZs, is it still good for FZ-50?

And is sunpak PZ5000AF a good alternative?I found several in the second hand market that the prices look good for me.

are there any other alternatives? please give me some suggestions

thank you :blah:

The Sunpak 383 has been the flash of choice for a lot of folks here and as far as I know there is no reason it would not work as well on the FZ50. You might check with Panasonic before you buy though.

They both will work on the FZ50.....the 5000 is a much more powerful flash....

Since you can see one of them make sure it has some adjustments on the rear of the flash as some dedicated flashes do not.

I would take the FZ50 And a few AA batteries with you to be sure theflash fires on the FZ50........the voltage is safe at under 6 volts.

I would imagine thatsome 5000's may be made with a minolta mount that may not fit the FZ50......but all other mounts will work, I think.

thanks pal

finallyI bought a FL-36 instead...just a bit more than the sunpak 5000AF

after some test fires at home, I think it works pretty well

the recharging speed problem is not serious (at least up to this moment) with my rechargeable NiMH batteriesandI could not find occasions that require a full power flash

if it really happens, use ISO200 instead of 100can bea good option

the FL-36 is TTL compatible with the FZ50 but I conclude that the lamp on the FL-36 will not light at all after tests and reading of the manual in which it writes that only for the olympus cameras

finally, I got two new questions:

1. Is the count of continuous firings for FZ-50 restricted to 3?

2. Can both the internal and external flash work together in FZ50?
