I found this into the manual of FZ20
Do not close the flash soon after the flash is activated prior to taking pictures due to AUTO/Red-eye reduction etc. It causes a malfunction. |

Sunstorage, In the auto/red eye reduction mode the flash fires twice, so they are telling you not to close the flash unit after the first flash because the second final flash hasn't fired yet ! And that will cause a dark picture or no picture, not that it will harm the camera! Jim

10x for the information. Maybe the word "malfunction" shoud not be used in the manual for this case. Anyway I must be VERY quick to close the flash between the two fires.

Sunstorage, Your english is fine! Your right another word instead of malfunction would have been better as that is very misleading. :-)
